Savinelli Liga Especial II

Information:
Country:
Wrapper origin: Equador
Wrapper type: Habano
Filler: Nicaragua
Length: 5
Ring: 52
Cost: $5.00

Appearance (0-20): I’d say that unfortunately many of us make assumption about cigars based off of how they look and the band that is associated to it.  Fortunately for this cigar, it received a good score just for that reason.  The habano wrapper is a very nice medium brown with some small specks of white.  The band is beautiful with its signature “S” and ornate silver artwork.

Score: 19

Construction (0-20): The Liga felt good in my hand, and was packed well.  During the whole smoke, the draw was perfect and gave off ample amounts of smoke.  The ash started off white-gray, and then moved to mainly gray after the first inch or so. I did need to make a small touch up around the halfway point, but nothing that took away from the smoke.

Score: 18

Strength (0-20): The strength for me hovered around medium through the whole experience.  Referring down to the flavor profile, it starts off strong but evens out. For a medium smoke, I was pleased that it lived up to that.

Score: 17

Flavor (0-20): The first inch was spicy and peppery, with notes of earthiness. There were also some hints of sweetness that really gave this a well rounded taste.  After that point, it mellows out quite a bit into full on earthy and creamy.  During the rest of the cigar, you will get small hints of spice, but nothing compared to the first inch.  Creamy and delicious are two of the best words to describe this stick. If I had to make a comparison, I would say this most reminds me of the Oliva V series.
Score: 18

Value (0-20): At $5.00, I would recommend this to everyone that asks.  I would smoke this again in an instant, and I feel like it’s closer to a $7-8 smoke. Whenever you find a cigar that you really enjoy at the $5.00 price range, you need to take advantage of that.

Score: 19

Additional Notes: Paired with a Coke Slurpee. Smoked on my porch, because sunny 40 degree weather for a Pennsylvania winter is warm enough for me.

Overall (0-100): This was my first Savinelli that I’ve had the chance to smoke (not counting the Mystery Cigar) and I tip my hat to the manufacturer.  I look forward to smoking the rest of the sampler pack that I purchased, and I am quite happy so far.  I think the review speaks for itself, and I was pleased from the initial light, right now to the nub. Great product Savinelli.
